Why Japan Foresight
When I first began studying Japan, I was often asked why bother. Why not China, people would say. Japan is aging. It’s stagnating.
Twenty years later, I no longer hear those questions. Japan’s leaders have experimented with monetary, fiscal, and industrial policy as they seek new sources of growth in a highly competitive Asia. Tokyo has assumed a more vocal leadership role in Asia’s geopolitics, using its power to shape the regional and international orders. And the Japanese people continue to adapt as their country is roiled by disruptive technological change and the challenges of an aging population. No longer an outlier, Japan is increasingly a model for how to cope with the challenges of the twenty-first century.
I started Japan Foresight to help investors and companies navigate this rapidly changing landscape, drawing upon two decades of experience as a researcher, political risk advisor, and author.
